YOU MEAN THE MEDIA EXPOSED ME TO SLANTED REPORTING!? OF ALL THE PEOPLE! NOW WHO AM I TO TRUST!?
Slanted
reporting has long since been a practice in media PERIOD. Not just Fox 10 news, C-Span, or any other large publicized networks. My issue with "He said, she
said" reporting is that anyone can say something and may have even
themselves taken it out of context. I do not imagine the reporter obtained his
information from someone who was in support of the Solar project.
While I do not deny
that it is the reporters job to verify his sources and it is quite obvious that
the report was slanted toward anti Solar subsidization, and i would imagine his inability to report in a non bias fashion will begin to slowly effect his ability to reach an audience, his overall credibility, and may at some point in time cost him his job, I would like to say,
just like them, it is just as much our job to verify any information we take
in. whether it be trying to find someone who disagrees just as strongly as you
do, or if you are looking for a difference in opinion, it is bad practice to simply take anything at face value. It is called Healthy skepticism.
Exhibit #1: I am sure this guy is a perfectly nice guy, but it would seem in your best interest to not offer him a ride simply based on his pleasant demeanor. Why else were we given common sense if not to use it.
