Dont Be THAT Person

YOU THINK IT WONT.. BUT THIS COULD VERY WELL HAPPEN TO YOU!

On Monday, I was driving on the 202. I was just about at my destination exit when out of no where my hood flies up and smacks my windshield. The hood itself was inverted essentially taking the shape of what use to be that of my now non existent windshield. I am forced to slam on my brakes in rush hour traffic, turning my hazards on. I slam down as hard as i can on my car horn hoping to get the attention of those around me fearing that if i didnt hit the person in front of my, I would SURELY be hit by the person behind me. Lucky enough i was able to escape without further incident and after some doing, get safely to the inner median.

The worst part about the whole thing is that it could have been prevented. I was soo mad at myself, not just for having cost myself close to $1000 in repairs, but do to the fact that it could have been prevented. I had not even an hour before opened my hood to disconnect my battery to work on my electrical. after i was finished, i had put the hood down, but when it did not close correctly, i could not be bother to just push it down. I figured surely i would remember that my hood needed to be secured when i was going to take off in about 30 minutes or so to head to Mesa..

This is a hood latch. and it takes you maybe 1-5 seconds to check and make sure it is securely holding the hood of your vehicle in place.. and while we may feel inclined to do something else or fail to see the important of ensuring that it is Secured. I can assure you that it, more than almost anything else that you can do to your car, could very well be the difference between life and death while even on the shortest of trips. If you discover that your hood latch is damaged or no longer properly securing your hood. it is a 10-50 dollar piece and you should replace it immediately.

Entry # 2: Liar Liar

YOU MEAN THE MEDIA EXPOSED ME TO SLANTED REPORTING!? OF ALL THE PEOPLE! NOW WHO AM I TO TRUST!?

Slanted reporting has long since been a practice in media PERIOD. Not just Fox 10 news, C-Span, or any other large publicized networks. My issue with "He said, she said" reporting is that anyone can say something and may have even themselves taken it out of context. I do not imagine the reporter obtained his information from someone who was in support of the Solar project.

While I do not deny that it is the reporters job to verify his sources and it is quite obvious that the report was slanted toward anti Solar subsidization, and i would imagine his inability to report in a non bias fashion will begin to slowly effect his ability to reach an audience, his overall credibility, and may at some point in time cost him his job, I would like to say, just like them, it is just as much our job to verify any information we take in. whether it be trying to find someone who disagrees just as strongly as you do, or if you are looking for a difference in opinion, it is bad practice to simply take anything at face value. It is called Healthy skepticism.

Exhibit #1: I am sure this guy is a perfectly nice guy, but it would seem in your best interest to not offer him a ride simply based on his pleasant demeanor. Why else were we given common sense if not to use it.
